Spray Resist Gingko Leaf Napkins

We traded in our squeeze bottles for spray bottles and experimented with our favorite autumn colors including our all-new Marigold to create these napkins perfect for hosting this fall.

Supplies
  • Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dyes in Marigold and Scarlet
  • Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative
  • White Cotton Napkins
  • Cricut Machine (Optional)
  • Stencil Vinyl (Optional)
  • Leaf Stencil
  • Spray Bottle
  • Paper Towels
  • Plastic Table Cover
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Instructions
  1. Pre-wash napkin in warm, soapy water and dry.
  2. Gather supplies and cover work area with plastic table cover.
  3. Apply a Leaf Stencil onto napkin. You can also create your own using a Cricut Machine with Stencil Vinyl.
  4. Wearing rubber gloves, mix 1-2 tablespoons of well-shaken Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye or 2 teaspoons of Rit All-Purpose Powder Dye with 1 cup of very hot tap water.
  5. Pour dye solution into spray bottle.
  6. Spray stencil with Marigold then Scarlet to create a gradient look mimicking fall leaves.
  7. Remove stencil and allow dyes to set.
  8. Spray ColorStay Dye Fixative over the area where dye was applied and let dry.
  9. Hand wash napkin in warm water with mild detergent, rinse and dry. If desired, iron to remove excess wrinkles.
