Midnight Navy Faux Fur Throw Blanket

Not only are throw blankets great for keeping us warm, they act as a beautiful accent in a room. We took an old faux fur blanket and dyed it in our Rit DyeMore Midnight Blue. We love the deep, rich, blue color that we achieved with this dye project.  Learn how easy it is to transform an old faux fur blanket with a little dye.

Instructions
  1. Cover work area around stove with plastic or paper towels. Gather supplies.
  2. Pre-wash blanket in warm, soapy water, rinse and set aside. This helps remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption.
  3. To prepare dyebath: When dyeing synthetics, always use the stovetop method. This will ensure a high, steady temperature (about 180F or just below boiling), which is needed to dye synthetics. Fill cook pot with 3 gallons hot tap water and heat water on stove.
  4. When water begins to simmer, add one bottle of Midnight Navy DyeMore Dye (shake bottle before pouring) and a squirt of liquid dish detergent. Stir Well.
  5. Wearing rubber gloves, immerse wet blanket in dye bath. Stir slowly and continuously for 30 minutes or until desired color is achieved (up to one hour).
  6. When satisfied with the color, remove blanket from dyebath. Color appears darker when wet. Wearing rubber gloves, squeeze out excess dye.
  7. Rinse under warm water until water begins to run clear. Then wash in warm water with mild detergent, rinse and dry.
