  1. Cover work area with plastic table cover and have paper towels handy to protect against any possible spills. Gather supplies.
  2. Wear rubber gloves to protect hands.
  3. We used one of two different dyebath sizes to color the bottle brush trees. For small trees, pour 4 cups of hot water into a container. For medium and large trees, pour 3 gallons of hot water into a container.
  4. Here are the formulas we used:
    1. Mint:
      1. Small: 1 and 1/4 Teaspoons Aquamarine, 1 Teaspoon Kelly Green
      2. Medium: 2 and 1/2 Teaspoons Aquamarine, 2 Teaspoons Kelly Green
    2. Blush Pink:
      1. Small: 1/2 Teaspoon Pearl Grey, 1/4 Teaspoon Scarlet
      2. Medium: 1 Teaspoon Pearl Grey, 1/2 Teaspoon Scarlet
    3. Shaded Spruce:
      1. Small: 2 Teaspoons Teal, 1 1/2 Teaspoons Dark Green, 1/8 Teaspoon Denim Blue
      2. Medium: 4 Teaspoons Teal, 3 Teaspoons Dark Green, 1/4 Teaspoon Denim Blue
    4. Prism Violet:
      1. Small: 1/4 Cup Purple, 1/4 Cup Evening Blue
      2. Large: 1/2 Cup Purple, 1/2 Cup Evening Blue

      2. Large: 1/2 Teaspoon Purple, 1/4 Teaspoon Denim Blue
  5. Add dye to container. Stir.
  6. Lower tree into dyebath. Leave tree in dyebath for 10 seconds, up to 10 minutes. When desired color is achieved, remove from dyebath.  Trees will look darker when wet and will dry lighter.
  7. Let tree dry on paper towel. You can place it on its side.
